Teacher Background

The Platonic solids are a group of five three-dimensional solids. The faces of each of these solids are congruent regular polygons; triangles, squares, or pentagons. The same number of polygons intersect at a corner (vertex) of the polyhedron. The five Platonic solids are:

Cube-squares, 6 faces
Cube-squares, 6 faces
Dodecahedron-pentagons, 12 faces
Dodecahedron-pentagons, 12 faces
Icosahendron-triangles, 20 faces
Icosahedron-triangles, 20 faces
Octahedron-triangles, 8 faces
Octahedron-triangles, 8 faces
Tetrahedron-triangles, 4 faces
Tetrahedron-triangles, 4 faces
