Directions for Nominations for
Historical Favorite of the Year Award

Here's your chance to nominate a book for the "Historical Favorite of the Year Award." The process of developing selection criteria and evaluating books helps students build skills in critical appreciation and judgment.

  1. Individual students or collaborative groups select a book they feel is worthy of receiving the Historical Favorite of the Year Award for 1998.
  2. Write a brief explanation to justify the nomination, listing the evaluation criteria used to make the selection and how the books met each of the criteria.
  3. Describe the special characteristics about the books that students most enjoyed.
  4. Create color illustrations of favorite parts of the books to accompany the nominations.
