Directions for a Book Report

Through sharing favorite books with other students, students develop communication and language skills, as well as deepen their understanding of the content of the literature they read.

  1. Individual students or collaborative groups write book reports to entice others to read the books that they found interesting.
  2. Choose a focus--the books' cultural and historical backgrounds, critical perspectives, or an analysis of its characters or themes.
  3. Explain what makes the book worth reading.
  4. Reports should be positive in tone and only books the students consider to be worthwhile should be submitted.
  5. Create illustrations of important people and/or events to accompany the reports.
