New! Teacher Resources for Earth Process

Here are a few of my favorite resources. I am hoping we will add to this list together. Send me the information, and we'll add your favorites to the list and credit you and your school!

Improvements to "Cratering"
Since the duplication of the teacher’s guide for TEAMS Science Earth Processes I have discovered that the best cratering simulation models all use a fine powder of a contrasting color on top of the crust surface material. This allows for better observation of the ejecta resulting from the crater-forming impact and is a great improvement.
Try using a fine brown powder, such as chocolate milk mix powder, hot chocolate mix powder, or perhaps a chocolate cake mix. Sprinkler a thin layer of the powder on top of the sand (or other material) you are using to simulate the crust.

Keep in Touch!
Check the Teacher’s Discussion Page to join a discussion of how this improvement to the activity works in your classroom, and see what other teachers have tried as the contrasting color powder.
