It was 17 years ago, 1978 in the month of DECEMBER. My mother and her
family had planned to come to "AMERICA". There were 17 people about, in
my mom's family plus 193 more people from other places like "Saigon",
that wanted to come on the way. People wanted to leave VIETNAM because
they would have to work very hard for the rest of their lives. Everybody
who wanted to go on the trip would have to come all the way to my
mother's house and sleep over for 3 or 4 days and then got ready for the
long trip to America.
It was a few days later when they started to sail to America. On the
way the captain would sail the boat on the top. At night they would
drop the anchor and sleep. Water would come on the deck of the boat.
The next day a ship came and rescued them and they landed on
"SINGAPORE". They lived there for 3 months trying to survive and then
they got on a plane and came to AMERICA. They arrived at LOWTON,
OKLAHOMA, 4 months later. They went to ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico for
about 1 year and then went to MONTEREY PARK, California forever!
