Coming to Seattle

"Hello! My name is Irma. I was born in Mexico and now I live in Seattle. I want to tell you a story of my family and I coming to Seattle.

I was born in Mexico. When I was two years old my dad came to the United States. Then three years passed when my dad went back to get my mom so she could know how the United States was. I lived with my grandma for two years. Then my mom went to Mexico to get me and my sisters and brother. On October we came in a car but we crossed a lot of places cause we didn't have legal papers.

We crossed a river in San Diego and we stayed for two nights in Los Angeles with my sisters, grandmother and grandfather. When we left Los Angeles and it was October 6, 1990. The seventh day we went to Sacramento, and we stayed there for one night then we crossed a highway. The immigration came and tried to grab my brother Michael, but my mom didn't want that because if they caught him we all had to go back to Mexico. My mom wanted us to have a better life because in Mexico we didn't have enough money for the family.

On October 9, 1990. We got to Seattle and we didn't know who our father was because he only went to Mexico two times but that was when my brother and sisters were little.

The next two weeks we started school. My brother and I didn't know any one until I meet Sarah and Eric. We were best, friends until I moved to another school and we never heard anymore from Sarah and Eric. My brother and I always hand together. We went to the same school until I came to Madison and met more people. Then I saw Sarah and I was happy to see her again for four years that I never saw her. Sarah and I are best friends now.
