Dear Rifka,

I have just received your last letter. it was the one when you were on Ellis Island.

My neighborhood is starting to feel so empty because veryone is moving to America.

Sometimes I wish I could go to America, away from my sister's piano lessons, away from the criticisms of my back, away from everything.

But I love my home dearly. I just hope we aren't forced from our home because of the war. People are starting to say "If you stay here you'd have to be crazy."

Shalom,

Tovah
