Dear Rifka,

I have just received the wonderful letters you have sent me. They are very nice, but I had to use a magnifying glass to read it, for your writing was microscopic. Boy, that journey to America didn't sound easy. You must have been scared when you had to distract the Russian guards. You are very brave. I know it is very hard for you to leave family and friends behind in Russia, but I'm sure you'll have a very easy time finding new friends. I am very sorry that you have lost your candle sticks. I will send you new ones. I know that you and Saul are not the best of friends, but you should be thankful that he cared for you so much when you had the typhus. I hope you, Nathan, mama and papa.

Shalom, my cousin,

Tovah
