Dear Rifka,

I just got the letters. I feel so happy that I got them because I felt that we would never see or talk to each other again. It is good that you sent it to me. I hope that I will get to all of them and get a Pushkin book of my own.

. I think I cried when I heard about you on Ellis Island yearning for your Mama and Papa and Saul and Nathan and your giant brothers who were already in America before you. I also hope that I will see you all again and that we two clever girls can walk with adventures nearby us. I will write to you every day.

I am sorry Pieter died but you will find a person like him again. Keep looking. Rifka, I was so upset when you thought you were about to die when you were on the ship. But you are alive! I am happy that you went to America with your family and especially that you sent me the book.

Shalom, my cousin,

Tovah
