Dear Rifka,

I have just received the Pushkin with your letters in it. I am surprised that you survived those hardships that you've been through and that horrible tempest. I think that you would be a good worker because of the way you cared for that little Polish child and the way you taught that Russian peasant. I hope that you will get a good job in America when you are an adult. When you finally made it to America I was so happy I cried. You suffered so much on your way to America. You had to deal with the typhus, the ringworm and your hair falling out. I got so upset when I read that you were detained. I'm so happy that your hair is growing back again.

Shalom, my cousin,

Tovah
