| I have received all of your letters. You are a great writer. But when I read the letters they made me have mixed feelings.
I am so glad you made it! I'm also happy that my father helped you make it. I don't know anybody who would talk to the guards in such a manner. You are awfully brave, you know. You have a good memory of what I said about being clever. That could be really important and possibly save your life someday. I'm really sorry your Mama did not want to involve my dad but I'm glad he helped anyway. I never knew that my dad would ever make up such a good diversion like he did for you. That was awfully nice of you to tell me that my dad is such a good actor. I never knew that he was a good actor.
This letter is the letter that really grossed me out, and also made me feel more and more sad for you and your family. If a guard ordered me to take off my clothes I would never do that. Why did you, Rifka? Those guards did not do their jobs by staring at your body in the way they did. I won't even tell you how bad I feel for you, Rifka.
YIKES! You have typhus. That is the worst thing I have read in this letter. Now Nathan, Mama, and Papa have it, too. Now they have to leave because they are really bad off! Rifka, this is terrible! But what I am glad about is that both of you have an inn and Saul got a job and he gives you food to eat. I am pleased that you are doing much better. Saul has helped you, Rifka, by providing you with food and keeping you healthy. Rifka, you are very brave to go visit your mom. I also hope you all get better. That is so cruel what that little girl did to you. Rifka, I know this has been a tough go.
