STOP sign

Stop signs tell drivers to stop. In order for cars to stop, there has to be friction between the tires and the road.

Wilbur Wright

Wilbur Wright, and his brother Orville, successfully flew the first airplane in 1903. When I saw this sign, I thought of Wilbur. The brothers built the plane also. The airplane reached a speed of 30 mph on it's first flight in December, 1903.

Charles Drew Jr. High

Charles R. Drew, an American physician, was noted for his research on blood plasma and was the originator of blood banks.
He was born on June 3, 1904 and died on April 10, 1950 in an automobile accident.

Portuguese Bend is a sharp turn in Palos Verdes, California where the there is constant land movement. Drivers need to always be aware of falling rocks.
