News of the Century is a national contest sponsored by USA TODAY. It challenges students in grades 4-12 to select and research the people, places, and events that impacted a particular year (selected for them by USA TODAY) of the 20th century and then allows them to create their own online newspaper. This assignment gives students the chance to learn about and explore news topics in-depth, and evaluate the impact those events have had on their world, creatively and collaboratively.
